Promises .....
Promises!!! A huge term for everyone, isn't it? A promise everybody makes which fades with time which vanishes and ghostly disappears .To be more precise, it’s a crucial factor that shapes a life, moulds a personality, and builds a character. If recalled there are numerous examples before us but what use? neither do we allow such examples to have an impact on us nor do we look forward to more of such .Tall claims and zero action, that is what it turns out to be eventually .An oath is not something to be lightly played with or disrespectfully ignored .If we take an oath, it is our utmost responsibility to shoulder it, otherwise it makes one become feeble and powerless later. What renders us so useless sometimes? Why do we end up giving thousands of reasons? How do we manage to compromise good over bad? Also, have we ever given ourselves a chance to improvise and work things out? Maybe yes maybe no, we too are oblivious of what wonders we can do. A resolution needs true spirit combined with appropriate ways to make it happen. We aren’t kids anymore, in fact it is really a shame on our part to know that kids are far beyond our imagination and wisdom, they seem more learned than us and the understanding they show is just impeccable especially when it comes to fulfilling a promise .we so seem inferior in all this .Somehow I feel time has certainly changed to portray a scene that of a kid imparting a few wise words about how one should live up to a promise But what that poor kid would know that his voice often falls on deaf ears. Let me exemplify it with one such incident .My own 6 years old brother was heard telling how bad it is to abuse anybody and just unacceptable .I presume this one small but true example has conveyed the crux of the message and what it takes to be truly wise . This kind of wisdom at least is expected to see things working out .Well talking much about fulfilling, we shouldn’t forget about something called as ‘Consequences ‘.The greatest historic example of lord Rama promising to protect his beloved queen Sita but eventually failing to do so, is itself an example of how deadly consequences can be of not fulfilling a promise. Sita was not just his wife but his life, yet he compromised?!! and the consequence as we all know, in the true sense he lost her faith, lessened her passion for him and eventually everything including her life .Now wouldn’t you all agree that a promise or an oath does shape a life and build a character .Though Sita was a victim to all adversities, it was Rama who lost the battle, the battle of faith. So it would have been much fair on Sita’s part to question Rama why he couldn’t keep at it .Consequence, that is what I am trying to highlight .My dear friends I am not sidelining you from the track but bringing on it and I truly believe no other example or elaboration would have done enough justice. Friends, remember, whehenever we find ourselves heading the wrong way, recall this, “When a man takes an oath... he's holding his own self in his own hands like water and if he opens his fingers then - he needn't hope to find himself again “by Robert Bolt .So true, isn’t it?
